"We can’t direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails” - Dolly Parton
Hi! I’m Kushmeet!
As a child of immigrants, my understanding of mental health has been shaped by navigating family, culture, and relationships. Growing up between different values and expectations gave me a personal understanding of how cultural and generational differences, unspoken expectations, and mental health stigma can shape how we relate to ourselves and others.
These experiences inform my work as a therapist and my passion for supporting individuals and couples who feel stuck in recurring patterns, struggle to feel understood, or want to build healthier, more fulfilling relationships. I offer a warm, collaborative space where clients can explore what feels difficult and work toward meaningful change.
I hold a Bachelor of Applied Science in Psychology from the University of Guelph-Humber and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), I take a warm, individualized approach to therapy.
My Approach To Therapy
My approach focuses on establishing a secure, accepting environment where you can be yourself. I believe in working collaboratively with clients, empowering them to take control of their journey while I provide guidance and support. I focus on practical, solution-oriented strategies to help manage stress, build confidence, and improve emotional well-being. With an emphasis on empathy and understanding, I work at your pace, encouraging growth and self-discovery in a comfortable and supportive environment. Together, we’ll navigate challenges and focus on your unique strengths to help you achieve meaningful change.
-
You are the expert on your own life. I provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where your experiences, emotions, and goals take center stage.
-
Change is possible, even in small steps. I help you identify practical solutions and build on what’s already working to create meaningful progress.
-
Being present in the moment can bring clarity and calm. I incorporate mindfulness techniques to help you manage stress, build self-awareness, and cultivate inner balance.
-
You have unique strengths and inner resources. I help you recognize and build on them, fostering resilience and confidence as you navigate life’s challenges.
What to Expect in Sessions
In our sessions, you can expect a welcoming, encouraging, and nonjudgmental environment where they can freely express themselves. I work with clients to customize each session to meet their specific needs, whether that be establishing meaningful goals, coping mechanisms, or thought and emotion exploration. Reflection, gentle challenges, and useful skills to deal with life's obstacles are all possible in sessions. Above all, I want to provide an environment where clients are confident, heard, and supported in their own growth.
