"You don’t have to get it perfect. You just have to get it going." - Marie Forleo
Hi! I’m Lex!
My path to counselling has been shaped by my own messy, meaningful experiences and a deep appreciation for how much courage it takes to grow. I don’t believe we’re meant to figure everything out on our own; having support and an outside perspective can make a real difference. I’m a lifelong learner with a genuine curiosity about people, and I see therapy as a space where insight and self-compassion can grow together.
I don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, because we are all unique and that should be celebrated. With a background that spans working with all kinds of folks across different fields, I bring curiosity, care, and a belief that getting to know your patterns, strengths, and needs, and finding creative strategies that actually fit you, is worth pursuing.
Working with me is a mix of honesty, care, and thoughtful challenge. I show up as my authentic self and invite you to do the same. I’m in your corner, and I’ll be honest with you when you need it. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling supported, more connected to yourself, and with a clearer sense of what’s next.
My Approach To Therapy
My approach to counselling is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in lived experience. I show up authentically and create a space where you can feel safe, supported, and challenged. I’m not tied to a one-size-fits-all approach, which means I’m always open to bringing in new tools, trying different strategies, or even co-creating ones that feel like a better fit for you. If something isn’t working, we pivot. I draw from integrative and somatic approaches to explore not just what’s on your mind, but what your body and environment might be communicating too. At the core, I believe change is possible, especially when the process feels flexible, relevant, and truly your own.
-
I’m curious about how your past experiences & relational patterns show up in the present. Understanding these deeper layers can create meaningful insight and open the door to lasting change.
-
I look at the full picture, including your mind, body, environment, and relationships. Mental health doesn’t exist in a vacuum, and neither does healing.
-
I don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach. I draw from a range of modalities, including CBT, DBT, ACT, and others, blending practical tools with space for insight, humour, and self-compassion so our work actually fits you.
-
I value the mind-body connection and the wisdom of the body. I invite you to tune into what’s happening beneath the surface, not just in your thoughts, but in your physical experience as well.
-
Your brain is not broken — therapy is tailored to your unique wiring, helping you better understand yourself, work with your brain instead of against it, and build strategies that actually fit your life.
What to Expect in Sessions
Sessions with me feel like a focused yet comfortable, collaborative space that is warm, honest, and sprinkled with humour, where meaningful work can happen without feeling overwhelming. Some sessions might be more structured, while others are more flexible and guided by what’s coming up for you, and we’ll find what works best together. We’ll look at the mental, emotional, physical, and environmental pieces of your experience, using integrative and somatic tools when they fit. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling supported, more clear, and with something that actually helps in your day-to-day life.

A Little About Me!
-
Spending time connecting with nature—whether it’s walking with my partner and our dog, spotting wildlife, or binge-watching Survivor after outdoor time.
-
Fall is my favourite season, especially in Guelph. I love the changing leaves, the crisp air, sweater weather, and the balance of getting outside and then coming back in to get cozy.
-
My biggest pet peeve is either being way too hot—which overstimulates my neurodivergent brain—or when people cheat in board games, because where’s the fun in that?
-
It would have to be ramen, or a juicy steak with caesar salad.
-
Be yourself, laugh often, and keep close to the people who make both feel easy.
-
I can’t live without connection—good people, time outside, and the kind of moments that remind me what actually matters.
-
I care deeply about harm reduction and neurodivergent-affirming practices. That means approaching substance use with compassion and evidence-based care, and prioritizing safety over shame. It also means creating spaces where all brains are understood, supported, and don’t have to fit into a one-size-fits-all box.
-
Scuba diving with whales.
-
I love reading, playing games (card, board, sports), and spending time outdoors, whether it’s camping, hiking, or swimming. I’m also always up for some good music.
How I Want You to Feel After a Session
I want you to leave our sessions feeling heard and supported, like you don’t have to carry everything on your own. It might not all feel “fixed,” but my hope is that you walk away a little more clear, a little more understood, and a bit more like yourself. Whether we’ve had a deep conversation or a quieter moment of reflection, I want it to feel like a space where you can just be, without pressure or judgment.
