"You don’t have to get it perfect. You just have to get it going." - Marie Forleo
Hi! I’m Lex!
My path to counselling has been shaped by my own messy, meaningful experiences—and a deep appreciation for the courage it takes to grow. I believe that working on ourselves doesn’t mean going it alone; having a support system can make all the difference. I’m a lifelong learner with a passion for understanding people, and I see therapy as a space where both insight and self-compassion can flourish. With a background that spans working with all kinds of folks across different fields, I bring curiosity, care, and a belief that knowing yourself better is a gift worth pursuing.
My Approach To Therapy
Working with me is a mix of real talk, deep care, and a few gentle nudges. I show up as my full self and invite you to do the same. Expect to feel supported, understood, and occasionally challenged to look at things from a fresh angle. My hope is that you leave each session feeling a little more connected to yourself (and maybe even a little more motivated too).
-
I’m curious about how your past experiences and relational patterns show up in the present, and I believe that understanding these deeper layers can open the door to real, lasting change
-
I look at the full picture. Your body, mind, environment, and relationships are all important here, because mental health does not exist in a vacuum, and healing is rarely one-size-fits-all.
-
I pull from different modalities to meet you where you're at, blending practical tools with space for insight, humour, and self-compassion, because people are complex, and therapy should be too.
-
I trust the wisdom of the body and have a strong belief in the mind-body connection. I invite clients to tune into what’s happening beneath the surface.
What to Expect in Sessions
Sessions with me will feel like a focused yet comfortable collaborative space—warm, honest, and sprinkled with humour—where meaningful work happens at a pace that suits you. I balance clear structure with flexibility, adjusting each meeting to address what’s most helpful that day. Beyond talk therapy, we’ll consider the mental, emotional, physical, and environmental factors shaping your experience, drawing on integrative and somatic tools when useful. My aim is for you to leave each session feeling genuinely supported, thoughtfully challenged, and empowered with strategies that meet you right where you are.

A Little About Me!
-
Spending time connecting with nature—whether it’s walking with my partner and our dog, spotting wildlife, or binge-watching Survivor after outdoor time.
-
Fall is my favourite season—there’s something comforting about the unpredictability of the weather, the beauty of changing leaves, and the joy of fully leaning into sweater weather in Guelph.
-
My biggest pet peeve is either being way too hot—which overstimulates my neurodivergent brain—or when people cheat in board games, because where’s the fun in that?
-
Ramen or pho—it’s like a hug in a bowl.
-
“Good things come from laughter and being ourselves”
-
I can’t live without genuine connections—whether it’s with the people I love or the natural world, that concept of realness keeps me grounded and growing.
-
1) I’m an advocate for compassionate, evidence-based approaches to substance use that honour individual dignity and prioritize safety over shame.
2) I care about dismantling shame around neurodivergence and creating spaces where all brains are understood and supported.
3) Electoral Reform
4) Harm Reduction
-
Scuba diving with whales
-
I love reading, playing games (card, board, anything really), and spending time outdoors—whether it’s camping, hiking, or swimming—with a soft spot for music and watching hockey.
How I Want You to Feel After a Session
I want you to walk away from our sessions feeling like you’ve been heard—like you don’t have to carry everything on your own. Maybe things won’t feel instantly “fixed,” but my hope is that you’ll feel a bit more clear, a bit more understood, and a little more like yourself. Whether it’s a deep conversation or a quiet moment of reflection, I want our time together to feel like a space where you can just be—without pressure or judgment.
